Our Emotion Explorer is designed to help children express their feelings visually. Children select emotions, locations, and people they were with, aiding in emotional understanding. Parents can customize the app to tailor it to their child's needs, fostering emotional expression and communication skills.
Understanding and communicating emotions can often be challenging for children on the autism spectrum. With Emotion Explorer, we provide a structured yet customizable approach to help children identify and articulate their feelings, as well as the circumstances surrounding them.
To navigate the Emotion Explorer, the child should answer 4 questions. Here's how it works:
How do you feel?: Children select from four options—very good, good, bad, or very bad—to describe their overall emotional state.
What do you feel?: Based on their initial response, children are presented with a range of specific feelings to choose from. Whether they're experiencing anger, sadness, excitement or relaxation, our intuitive interface makes it easy for them to pinpoint their emotions.
Where did it happen?: Children can select from a list of pre-defined locations—such as home, school, or outside—to indicate where they started feeling this way.
Who was there?: Children identify the individuals who were present when they began experiencing their emotions. Whether it was parents, friends, teachers, or anyone else, this step helps contextualize the situation further.
Throughout the process, each option is accompanied by a visually engaging icon, enhancing accessibility and comprehension for children of all abilities.
Once the questions are answered, Autinomic provides a visual overview of the selected options. This representation serves as a solid foundation for children to narrate their emotions and experiences more effectively, fostering greater self-awareness and communication skills.
What sets the Emotion Explorer apart is its full customization capabilities. Parents and caregivers can add custom feelings, create personalized locations, and include images of familiar individuals, tailoring the feature to meet the specific needs and preferences of each child. This level of customization ensures that Emotion Explorer is truly adaptable and supportive for every user.
